The Glintstone Dragons

Lake-dragons of Liurnia, sworn or slain by Carian princesses

The Glintstone Dragons are the lake-dragons of Liurnia, Smarag, Adula, and the dragon-eaten cousins whose bodies still drift in the shallow water around Caria Manor. They are smaller and craftier than their Caelid kin, hunted in the lake's reeds at twilight, and breathe a cold blue glintstone-fire that no Erdtree priest's seal can quench. The Adula's Moonblade sorcery description records the most famous of them in a single line : 'Adula, a devourer of sorcerers, was bested by Ranni and subsequently swore a knightly oath to her Dark Moon.' Adula, in other words, became Ranni's vassal, one of the four oath-sworn Ranni summons in her Rebirth incantation : the giant, the dragon, the beasts, Blaidd.

Their northern cousins are the Borealis-line, the ice dragons of the Mountaintops. The Borealis's Mist incantation records the canon's only mention of an entire dragon-civilisation lost to history : 'The ice dragons were once lords of the mountaintops long ago, until they were defeated by the Fire Giants and chased from the peak.' Borealis, the Freezing Fog, is the last surviving heir of that line. The Caelid revenger Ekzykes, 'Dragon Communion Revenger, did not forget his hatred even as he succumbed to the scarlet rot', is the rotted southern relative. Three branches, three deaths, one lake : the Glintstone Dragons are what survives of an old aerial nobility now reduced to the surface of water.
