Varré is the first NPC encountered in the game, the "white mask" welcoming maidenless Tarnished with benevolent condescension. His true nature: Mohg's chief recruiter, tasked with infiltrating and enlisting Tarnished for the Mohgwyn Dynasty. He persuades Tarnished to invade an enemy world, soak a cloth in a Maiden's blood, then returns to initiate them by injecting noble blood into their finger via a long pin, described in his dialogues in clinical detail: "thou dost have the sweetest cry." He grants the Pureblood Knight's Medal, the key to Mohgwyn Palace. His dialogues reveal his conviction that the guidance of grace has been corrupted since the Elden Ring's shattering: "The words of the Two Fingers can no longer be trusted. Corrupted, their guidance, tainted." His armor set (White Mask, Hoslow blood variants) reflects his Bloody Finger identity. His loyalty to Mohg is total: even dying in the boss fight, he invokes his lord. The Mohgwyn Dynasty Medallion he grants teleports directly to Mohgwyn Palace, bypassing all normal access routes.
