Metyr was the first messenger sent to the Lands Between by the Greater Will, a being whose body is a long pale spine ending in dozens of pointing fingers. From her body the Two Fingers and the Three Fingers were both born: she is the source of every divine instruction the Lands Between has ever received. She conceived in turn the demi-humans, the human-like creatures whose lineage descended from her finger-children. The Lands Between does not know its Two Fingers were once her offspring.
But the Greater Will withdrew from her long ago, and Metyr, abandoned in the depths of the Cathedral of Manus Metyr in the Realm of Shadow, has spent ages in unanswered devotion. She is now mad, weeping the meteors of her unheard prayers across an unobserving sky. Count Ymir, her last priest, comes to her cathedral with the stated intention of becoming her new lord. The Tarnished who slays Metyr severs the line of communication between Lands Between and Outer God, and what waits to reach down through the silence she leaves is unknown.
